
For as long as I can remember, I've always had a love for art and history. Occasionally I get to dabble in both of them.The original image (below) of my Grandmother was not particularly high resolution. There was a bit of damage, and since it was taken in the 1940s, it was also not in color. As a tribute to my family's proud matriarch, I colorized this portrait of her. I matched her skin tones and hair to old pictures of her as well as family members that share similar characteristics. From their, it was a matter of execution. I wanted it to pay tribute to the original photograph while revitalizing memories than many of us are too young to have shared.
