I love creating gifts for people who've made a difference in my life. Our social media manager, in the office I work in, was getting married and I knew that he and his wife were both fans of the Lord of the Rings. Initially, I spent a year carving Gandalf, the wizard from the Lord of the Rings, out of some wood that I procured from a local land owner. Unfortunately, that wood went from soft and workable, to hard and prone to cracks. After months of difficulty and constant breaks, I decided a better course of action would be to create the gift out of bronze. In the the end, I found this to be a far better gift. The bronze is was higher quality, more beautiful, more detailed, and elicits more value than the would piece ever could have. For that reason, I found that the new approach was far more befitting of its purpose.
